This years Scouts' Main Camp was based at Yeld Farm in Baslow, Derbyshire. It ran from Saturday 28th of July to Saturday 4th of August. The weather was great, well up until Thursday! On Saturday we set out for a long day setting up tents, marquees, dining shelters and storage tents. On Sunday we went to church, then set up wet pits and fire-ovens. Monday was a fun day, we went canoeing and mountain biking at Carsington Water. On Tuesday we split up into 2 groups, 1/2 climbing, 1/2 pioneering. Then in the afternoon we swapped. The climbing was fairly hard, with an overhang to contend with as you got off the ground. Once over that though it was a fairly technical but fun climb to the top. The pioneering was also a fun and interesting project. We built a drawbridge and an aerial runway. The aerial runway worked this time, though it took a lot of effort. The drawbridge went over the river at the bottom of the field. Each evening there was a patrol challange. These included volleyball, archery, slippery slide, football, highland challenges and our favorite the alaphabet challenge.
